HOW TO AVOID COMMON MISTAKES MADE IN REAL ESTATE RECRUITMENT INTERVIEWS.
A common mistake made during a recruitment interview is ‘THE OVERSELL’.
In this scenario, the agent/sales person feels compelled to oversell themselves, often caused by nerves or a misconception that the owner is expecting them to show-off their sales skills and abilities.
This is a trap both parties can easily fall into, ending with negative results.
When this happens the agent generally leaves the meeting feeling unsettled, liable and dishonest.
This will often end the recruitment process, creating an illusion of mistrust, and often leaving both parties feeling frustrated.
Another scenario of the ‘THE OVERSELL’ is when the business owner oversells themselves to the agent.
They talk themselves up, discussing their success in the field, leaving the agent feeling unheard, unappreciated or not understood.
By doing this the owner may feel they are having a positive influence on the agent, however they are doing the exact opposite.
During the interview, the agent needs the owner to understand their strengths and weaknesses as a real estate professional.
Unfortunately owners often fall into the trap of trying to mould the agent into their likeness.
To avoid this from happening during the interview, keep a well balanced discussion going and create a safe interview environment.
You want both parties to share a little vulnerability. This ensures the owner can focus in on what support the agent needs and not just what the agent can do for the owner.
Try to focus on 3 to 5 hot button points the agent needs, to help grow their sales volume.
